List of Characteristics of Gothic Horror
1) The hero would find himself in a dark and mysterious world full of supernatural elements.

Manfred, the king of the castle loses his son who was going to marry Isabella by a falling helmet. This leaves both Manfred and Isabella thinking that they have to do something else and Manfred thinks of going on to marry her. Isabella's ideas were different and she runs away.

Theodore is the hero later in the novel because Isabella doesn't want to marry the father of Conrad.
